Parents and teachers want Australian democracy taught in classrooms: Alan Tudge

Parents and teachers around Australia want the “origins” of Australia’s liberal democracy taught in classrooms, according to Education Minister Alan Tudge.
“They want to ensure that standards are high; that the origins of our liberal democracy are taught fully in the classrooms so that the next generation will defend our democracy in a similar manner to what previous generations have,” Mr Tudge said.
“It seems that the only people who don’t share this view, of wanting to have a positive view of Australia, wanting kids to have high standards, wanting kids to understand the origins of our liberal democracy, is those opposite – who suggest that concept is weird.”
