Oswald Robinson, president of SVGTU said he is concerned with comments made by Ministry of Health officials pertaining to the detection of COVID-19 positive cases in schools.

On NBC radio Face to Face programme last Friday Health Promotions Officer Shanika John said that once there is strong adherence to protocols, if a positive case of COVID-19 is detected at a school this does not mean that the entire school should be closed.

Commenting on the matter, Robinson said prevention is always better than cure and that all measures must be taken to ensure the safety of the nation’s children.

The Teachers Union president said from his understanding at least 4 schools have already been impacted by positive COVID-19 cases since the start of the face to face instructions. All measures must be taken to ensure the safety of the nation’s children.
